Understand the sources and treatment methods of VOCs waste gas in 1 minute

What are the sources of VOCs exhaust gas?

(1) Process exhaust gas discharged from petrochemical plants, such as petroleum refining process, petrochemical oxidation process, petrochemical storage tank production process;

(2) The mining, storage and transportation process of oil, coal, natural gas, etc.;

(3) Incomplete combustion products when coal, petroleum, petroleum products, natural gas, wood, and tobacco are burned, flue gas produced when waste is burned, and incompletely burned hydrocarbon substances contained in the exhaust gas emitted by motor vehicles;

(4) Interior decoration and decoration materials such as paint, spray paint and its solvents, wood preservatives, coatings, plywood, etc. can release a variety of volatile organic substances such as benzene, toluene, xylene, formaldehyde, and phenols at normal temperatures;

(5) Volatile organic substances such as phenols, ethers, and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons can be produced during the processing and use of cosmetics, organic pesticides, deodorants, disinfectants, preservatives, and various detergents used in daily life;

(6) Various synthetic materials, organic adhesives and other organic products oxidize and crack when exposed to high temperatures, which can produce some low-molecular organic pollutants;

(7) Some organic pollutants are produced when starch, fat, protein, cellulose, sugar, etc. are oxidized and decomposed.

How to control VOCs?

1. To control the atmospheric environment, we must control the source, that is, implement low-VOCs raw material substitution;

2. The second is process control, that is, by improving the production process, the key VOCs generation process can be operated in a closed manner;

3. Finally, it is necessary to strengthen terminal treatment and adopt mature and efficient VOCs treatment devices to improve the removal efficiency of terminal treatment facilities.

Advantages of using catalytic combustion process

1. It can reduce the initial combustion temperature of organic waste gas. For example, formaldehyde begins to burn at room temperature under the action of a Pt catalyst (Pt/Al2O3) with alumina as a carrier, while the starting combustion point of the direct combustion method is usually 300 to 600°C.

2. Combustion is not limited by hydrocarbon concentration.

3. Basically it will not cause secondary pollution.

4. The equipment is relatively simple and the investment is small.
